....ah and just to confirm, this picture was from February this year, not this last week. I could have added one of the OAMTC mechanic with his voltmeter in the rain but thought another re-run would be preferable.

The higher the better but I spoke to the good people at the Krippenstein Freeride Arena yesterday and they let me know that the snowfall had been significant. Not ideal timing as this region is spectacular during the summer and less so when it is cold enough to really dump on the glaciers. I was set for a meeting with the guys at Dachstein West but the electrics on my car gave up at Walserberg, metres over the border into Austria from Germany. Back there next week all being well and hopefully going to make those last few km’s. The skiing there this week would have been the preserve of the ski tourer, but for those who ventured up there would have been some great snow to be had. You always tend to get the odd day or days until this time of the year and sometimes a bit later when a cold / wet snap creates great glacier powder skiing – I have been lucky enough to get it for the last few years – alas not this year :(
