FAMILY SKI HOLIDAYS – WHAT TO LOOK FOR
We judge ski holiday resorts suitability for family ski holidays on a range of criteria:
• Short transfers
• Light resort traffic
• Good access to the slopes
• Easy terrain and tree cover on the slopes
• Kids ski school programs / language skills
• Relaxed après ski
If not the best then certainly amongst the best ski school programs anywhere. The mid station in Serfaus has an impressive and extensive, themed kids ski area and there are numerous interactive trails with interactive features. Serfaus itself is an upmarket and impressive resort with an underground railway running the length of the resort.
Seefeld is an outstanding resort for families with a large pedestrianised centre and numerous facilities. The skiing in Seefeld is ideal for families with gentle ski areas located on several areas around the resort. Seefeld is linked to Innsbruck by train for a huge choice of amenities and has one of the shortest transfers in the Alps from Innsbruck airport.
LA PLAGNE, AUSTRIA
La Plagne offers superb access to the slopes with pretty much all the resorts offering ski-in, ski-out accommodation, whilst the ski area consists of wide and gentle slopes. There is less to do off the slopes than other resorts but in terms of the ski terrain and access to it then La Plagne is tough to beat.
LES GETS, FRANCE
The short transfer from Geneva is one of the key features for Les Gets , whilst the extensive easy skiing is great for families. Les Gets offers pretty good access to the slopes from much of the resort and the central resort road is largely free of traffic. Through traffic can be heavy but by passes the main resort centre.
