ORDINO SKIING

The Arcalis ski area is the smallest of the main ski areas in Andorra and attracts the fewest crowds. The Arcalis ski area amounts to just 26km of ski pistes but has 13 lifts; a surprisingly large number of lifts for the length of ski pistes there. Beginners have a decent area at the base station and there is a lengthy green piste that winds back to the base station at Arcalis from the beginners’ area at La Coma. Intermediate skiers are pretty well served also with some open and gentle skiing on offer. The ski area is certainly of limited size but it covers an OK range with a red piste leading back from the highest point at Cota. All the skiing is above the tree-line but for a few areas just above Arcalis.

THE GOOD, THE BAD

Good  We like:
The skiing in Arcalis offers probably the best snow and quietest slopes

Bad  We don`t like:

ORDINO SKI INFORMATION

The ski area over at La Coma offers a real wilderness feel to it with a large snow bowl and an attractive terraced terrace restaurant. Arcalis is a reasonable drive from Ordino; the other nearby resort is La Massana which is closer and offers access to the ski area of Pal and Arinsal. The areas make good alternative options from the limited scale of Arcalis and are ideal in poor weather; the Arcalis ski area is almost entirely exposed whereas the Pal ski area offers a good deal of protection. Both areas are ideal for intermediate skiers and boarders.
