How you rate it

ALTENMARKT THE RESORT
Altenmarkt is a pretty town located in the valley beneath the neighbouring ski holiday resort of Zauchensee and the Altenmarkt ski pistes. Altenmarkt is a traditional town and one of the bigger destinations in the valley. The central area is pedestrianised and Altenmarkt has a good number of locals to balance the tourist numbers. There are a number of huts on the slopes around Altenmarkt and the town hosts numerous festivals both is summer and winter. The fact that Altenmarkt is a working town as well as tourist destination gives it a more rounded and less seasonal feel than other ski holiday resorts in the area.
THE GOOD, THE BAD

ALTENMARKT RESORT INFORMATION
Altenmarkt is located to the south of Salzburg and has excellent links to both Salzburg and Salzburg airport. The long and sometimes wide valley that connects Salzburg and Villach is home to numerous towns and Altenmarkt is one of the principal in the area. Home to the Atomic ski factory, Altenmarkt and neighbouring Flachau, the hometown Hermann Maier, the region is very much ski orientated.
