ALTENMARKT SKI HOLIDAYS

Altenmarkt, a traditional town south of Salzburg is famous for being the home of Atomic skis. Jointly marketed as Altenmarkt – Zauchensee, the ski holiday destination shares its ski area with the higher resort neighbour of Zauchensee. Altenmarkt is a pretty town with a traditional Austrian village feel and has excellent connections to Salzburg and Salzburg airport. The ski area in Altenmarkt is smaller and lower than the area at Zauchensee but is ideal for beginners and families. Further up the mountain road is Zauchensee which offers ski-in, ski-out accommodation and a decent sized ski area that links into the other Ski Amade resorts in the region. In reality, most of those staying in Altenmarkt would ski the Zauchensee ski area.
