AXAMER LIZUM THE RESORT

The location is superb. There is immediate access to the lifts and slopes and nearly all accommodation is effectively ski-in, ski-out. There is only a small choice of accommodation in Axamer Lizum but one fair standard hotel which sits right on the slopes. The significant downsides to the resort of Axamer Lizum are the large car park which allows Innsbruck locals and day visitors to access the skiing, as well as the main hotel in the resort which specialises in all-inclusive packages. The hotel deals offered are good and the location to the slopes even better but the hotel does little to reflect the real beauty of the area. But for skiing and access to the slopes then Axamer Lizum is an ideal base.

AXAMER LIZUM RESORT INFORMATION

If atmosphere and charm are preferable to slope-side access then there are far better alternatives to staying in the resort of Axamer Lizum. Axams, Birgitz and Gotzens all offer attractive villages with good facilities and accommodation choices. They are all connected by free ski buses and have ski pistes which during the winter months allow visitors to ski back to the village. Another village is Mutters which has its own ski area and lifts. It is connected to Axamer Lizum by a ski bus and visitors can ski back into the Mutters ski area and then down into the village directly from the Axamer Lizum ski area.

Probably not the prettiest resort, it's small & functional. The lift system is reasonably modern & has plans to expand to link up with other resorts nearby.

I really liked this resort, it was a great day out and the board/boot hire was excellent.
