Not such a good place for beginners , but the slopes are wide & not too busy. There is plenty of variety for off piste & you don't have too look far for a mini adventure

AXAMER LIZUM SKIING

Axamer Lizum is best suited to intermediate and above skiers and offers the least to skiers on their first day. Raw beginners do ski here and successfully so, but the area on which they are taught in Axamer Lizum is small compared to other ski areas. After a couple of days the beginners head up the mountain in any case and this is where Axamer Lizum really impresses. Long blues and reds come down from the Hoadl peak and down to the resort with a vertical of around 800m. The lower area offers tree-lined skiing whilst the upper sections consist of open bowls and ski pistes. Some really authentic huts are dotted around the slopes at Axamer Lizum. Axamer Lizum has a dedicated childrens’ learning area and creche in the centre of the resort.

THE GOOD, THE BAD

Good  We like:
Amongst the best in Innsbruck. Great off piste.

Bad  We don`t like:
Not the best for skiers with only 1-3 days behind them.

Good  You like:
"Great tree skiing and bowels at back of resort."

Bad  You don`t like:
"Too steep for some learners."

Beginner skiing
The beginners skiing is located in the centre of the resort. The location is ideal with lifts and facilities right next to the resort accommodation.

LOCAL KNOWLEDGE - THE SKIING

Intermediate skiing - Take the funicular to the top of the Hoadl and ski either the Damen (womens) or Herrn (mens) downhill courses. The Damen Abfart has a great wilderness feel to it, with huge rock faces on one side.

Expert skiing - There is one black down from the Birgitzerkopfl Haus but the best expert terrain is off-piste either in the bowls or trees. After 8 years skiing there you can still find some really interesting routes.

Lunch stops - The Hoadl is modern with great architecture but for traditional Austrian mountain huts, it has to be the Pleissen Hutte. Try any of the dumpling soups.

Après ski - The Pleissen Hutte is great at the end of the day or the Dohlens Nest.

AXAMER LIZUM SKI INFORMATION

Possibly the best skiing to be found in Axamer Lizum is off-piste, either in the large bowls toward the top of the mountain or further down in the trees. The ski pistes at Axamer Lizum form a moderate sized ski area statistically but the area is big and great and abundant off-piste areas.

The blue run was great for beginners like me and there is a lot of choice for intermediate/advanced skier/snowboarders.
