AXAMER LIZUM SKI HOLIDAYS
Axamer Lizum is located 1000m above Innsbruck and offers some of the best skiing in the Innsbruck area. At over 1500m Axamer Lizum has a good snow record and some interesting terrain. It is not the closest of Innsbrucks’ ski resorts; Mutters, Igls, Glungezer and the Seegrube are all closer to the centre of Innsbruck, but it offers the best snow and a fair sized ski area. The Axamer Lizum ski area is served by the resort of Axamer Lizum as well as a number of holiday villages located at around 900m. There are ski pistes running back to these villages. These resorts tend to be attractive and atmospheric whereas the resort at Axamer Lizum is neither. Despite its stunning location it is one of the few visually unimpressive ski resorts in Austria.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
The best, highest skiing around Innsbruck
We don`t like:
The village is an eyesore set amongst superb scenery
You like:
"There is some fantastic off piste skiing, but I won't tell you where."
You don`t like:
"I used to party in the lizum alm, unfortunately they only serve small beers now so i don't go there anymore."

AXAMER LIZUM SKI HOLIDAY INFO
The skiing favours intermediates and above and whilst there is an ample ski area for beginners and a dedicated childrens’ area / crèche, then complete beginners do the least well of all groups. Beginners with a few days behind them are fine and progression up the mountain is rapid, but Axamer Lizum has little very flat area for teaching.Unfortunately Axamer Lizum has the un-sympathetically designed Hotel Olympia and a big car park to detract from what is a very dramatic and impressive natural area. Far more attractive and atmospheric villages are available lower in the valley.
