The Bregenzerwald ski region in Vorarlberg, Austria. Bregenzerwald is the snowiest ski region in the Alps. Bregenzerwald has the ski holiday resort of Warth-Schrocken, Damuls and Au-Schoppernau.
BREGENZERWALD SKI HOLIDAYS
The ski holiday region of Bregenzerwald contains 22 villages, 8 ski areas and the best snow record in the Alps. Damuls is reckoned to be the most snowed upon ski holiday resort in the world, whilst Warth-Schrocken is calculated to have the most snow annually of any ski area in Europe; off-piste skiing there is legendary. The villages are on the whole stunning with a wonderful blend of immaculate old and new architecture. Cross country skiing in the Bregenzerwald ski region is very popular and adds to the relaxed atmosphere of the region. Family holidays are very popular in Bregenzerwald, whilst après ski is pretty restrained throughout the region.
SKI HOLIDAYS IN WARTH-SCHROCKEN
The Warth-Schrocken ski area is the highest in the Bregenzerwald ski region, whilst it also boasts the hugely impressive statistic of having the greatest snowfall accumulation of any ski area in Europe. The ski area is also the biggest in the Bregenzerwald ski region with the ski holiday resorts of Warth and Schrocken at opposite areas of the ski area. The off-piste in the Warth-Schrocken is often excellent given the snowfall record whilst there is a beginners area at the base station and some really enjoyable intermediate skiing on offer. The ski holiday resort of Warth is pretty and occupies a great location.
AU-SCHOPPERNAU SKI HOLIDAYS
The Au-Schoppernau-Diedamskopf ski region offers superb, immaculate villages that access the impressive Diedamskopf ski area, all in a region that has one of the best snowfall records in Europe. The villages are located along the valley base and offer a flawless mix of old and new architecture in a unique Bregenzerwald style. You may find comparable mountain horizons to those on offer in and around the Au-Schoppernau-Diedamskopf ski area but it is difficult to think of more beautiful villages to stay. The skiing in the Au-Schoppernau-Diedamskopf ski area is best for intermediates and beginners although there are some genuinely steep pistes as well as some outstanding off-piste.

Damuls is the ski holiday resort that boasts the statistic of having the most annual snow accumulation of any ski holiday resort in the world. Suffice it so say, the powder skiing and on-piste conditions can be excellent after the weather fronts have delivered. Much of the accommodation in Damuls is ski-in, ski-out with some excellent apartments located right in the heart of the Damuls ski area. The resort is attractive with a great setting on the mountainside whilst there is a beginners ski area located in the valley.
