Brixen is an intermediates dream and the lift system is as good as anywhere. New connection in Westendorf and Kitzbuhel make a huge lift connected ski area.

BRIXEN SKIING

Brixen is one of the best located ski holiday resorts in the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser ski region. It is centrally located and has pretty direct access both the Hohe Salve (the highest point in the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser ski region) as well as direct access into the Scheffau ski area and beyond into Ellmau. The new gondola (2008/09 winter) makes Brixen ideally located at the transit point between the Kitzbuhel / Westendorf ski area and the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser ski region. The new link makes the combined area the biggest lift linked ski region in Austria and one of the biggest in the world. For those wanting extensive skiing then Brixen is a superb choice. The skiing tends to favour the intermediate with endless cruising options across the ski region.

THE GOOD, THE BAD

Good  We like:
At the heart of the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser and possibly the best placed resort. In 2009 connected directly by lift into the Kitzbuhel ski region.

Bad  We don`t like:
Lower slopes get a lot of sun and the snow can suffer

BRIXEN SKI INFORMATION

Intermediate skiers can ski in both directions from the Brixen ski area, either heading toward Soll, Itter or Hopfgarten or in the other direction, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going. The skiing is pretty gentle and very extensive, basically ideal for intermediates. The main kids ski area is located at the top of the Brixen gondola. For better skiers and boarders, the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser offers the Hohe Salve, the highest point in the entire Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser ski region and with the steepest slopes running down from it. The Hohe Salve is easily accessed from Brixen and is clearly noticeable by its conical shaped peak and church at its summit.
