EHRWALD THE RESORT

Ehrwald is one of a number of ski holiday resorts that make up the Zugspitz Arena ski region, located almost directly on the Austrian / German border. The scenery around Ehrwald is superb with massive peaks on all sides of the flat valley which Ehrwald occupies, rising some 2000m over the resort. Ehrwald is the largest resort in the region and is a low rise settlement that spreads widely along the lower fringes of the mountains. The resort is geared to tourism and has impressive facilities. The 2 ski areas of the Ehrwalder Alm and Wettersteinbahn are both served by Ehrwald but the lifts access them are located slightly above the resort. The Zugspitz Arena is hugely popular for langlauf skiing and trails runs by the resort.
