ELLMAU SKIING

Ellmau has direct access to the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser, the largest linked ski area in Austria. The best way to access the main ski area in the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser is via the Hartkaiser funicular than runs from an area outside of the centre of Ellmau. From the Hartkaiser the runs fan out across something of a plateau that links the areas above Scheffau, Brixen, Soll and Hopfgarten. This plateau, whilst undulating is a reasonably flat and offers a fairly obvious connection between these areas and is above the tree-line. The conical and dominating feature of the Hohe Salve peak offers good orientation to the skier or boarder making their way across the ski region. Below there are tree-lined runs back to Ellmau and Scheffau.

ELLMAU SKI INFORMATION

But for the small resort of Going, Ellmau the furthest resort from Brixental on the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser ski area. This means that it is further to ski to the resorts of Hopfgarten, Westendorf and on into Kitzbuhel (for the really fast and adventurous skiers and boarders). Whilst it is easily possible for good intermediates to reach each end of the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser in a day, it is less easy to reach into Westendorf and on into Kitzbuhel from Ellmau in a single day.

Great lift system in the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser ski region and ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers. Advanced skiers have to ski a long way to find anything challenging.
