Fiss, Austria ski holiday resort. Fiss is the centrally located ski holiday resort in the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area. Fiss is also the highest of the resorts and offers a good range of accommodation.
How you rate it

FISS THE RESORT
The resort of Fiss is located between Serfaus on one side and Ladis on the other. The resort is attractive and low-rise with much the accommodation in Fiss being apartments. Both Serfaus and Ladis have a bigger proportion of hotel and pension accommodation than Fiss. There is little in the way of ski-in, ski-out accommodation in Fiss but the ski holiday resort is compact and minibus transport is laid on by the resort to take guests to and from the ski lifts. Walking is the other alternative, with most accommodation a short distance from either the ski pistes or the ski lift station. There are a number of restaurants in Fiss, although there is a bigger selection in Serfaus.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
Pretty and relaxed resort with an upmarket feel. Wonderful views and sunny aspect.
We don`t like:
Some accommodation is located beneath the lifts into the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area

FISS RESORT INFORMATION
The central location of Fiss means that it is ideally placed for ski trips to either the Ladis ski area or the far bigger Serfaus ski region. All ski areas are included on the same ski pass. Fiss is possibly less of an evening-out resort than say Serfaus, partly due to the fact that much of the accommodation is apartment based. That said, it has one of the best après ski bars in the whole area, the Hexenalm, which resonates to après ski chaos until early evening. Surprisingly in then closes and reopens an hour or so later as a restaurant.
