Galtur, Austria family ski guide. Galtur is a family friendly ski holiday resort both on and off the ski pistes. The resort is relaxed and the slopes have dedicated kids ski areas, whilst the main Galtur ski area generally offers easy skiing.

GALTUR FAMILY SKI HOLIDAYS
Family ski holidays in Galtur are popular, many families skiing the lower slopes with kids, either as beginners or companions. The kids / beginners ski area in Galtur is located close to the edge of the resort (Wirl hamlet) and includes all the usual features such as moving carpets and automated sledge dragging devices. The skiing beyond this area is on the whole gentle and the compact area ensures that kids are less likely to get lost – the lifts and trails are more limited than some areas and fairly simply set out. Apres ski is not huge in Galtur and the fact that Galtur is located at the head of the valley road ensures the traffic in and around Galtur is local. The road beyond Galtur is closed throughout the winter but opens in summer.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:

We don`t like:

GALTUR FAMILY SKI INFORMATION
The Wril area of Galtur is located right at the slopes and accommodation there is either ski-in, ski-out or just a few metres from either the ski slopes, the ski school or the ski lifts. The centre of Galtur however is located some 2km for the ski lifts and requires a transfer. Ski buses run throughout the day but for those needing ski-in, ski-out accommodation then they should head for the Wirl area of Galtur. One of the other drawbacks for Galtur is the location, being high in a valley known for its harsh winters. When bad weather arrives then the Galtur ski area with no tree-cover can be hard to navigate. Off the slopes there is a wildlife reserve just outside Galtur that is popular with families.
