GORTIPOHL SKIING

Gortipohl is located in the middle of the 2 access points to the Silvretta Nova ski area, whilst the third is a little further down the valley on the far side of St Gallenkirch. The Silvretta Nova is the biggest and best equipped of the ski regions in Montafon. There is no direct way in or out of the Silvretta Nova ski area from Gortipohl, the neighbouring ski holiday resorts are required for these purposes. Accessing the Silvretta Nova ski region from Gaschurn allows the use of the beginners ski area located at the edge of the village as well as a good sized ski area around the Nova Stoba lift station, ski hire and restaurant complex. From here it is possible to ski the pretty gentle pistes down to the Alpe Nova and into the main Silvretta Nova area.

GORTIPOHL SKI INFORMATION

The views skiing down into the Alpe Nova area are superb, with huge bowls opening up. The Alpe Nova is the point that accesses the biggest section of the ski area, the area above St Gallenkirch. This area can also be accessed via either of the two lifts that leave the ski holiday resort of St Gallenkirch. The Silvretta Nova ski area is best suited to beginners and intermediates although there is some impressive off-piste terrain. Ski pistes run back down into the valley and those staying in Gortipohl can chose to arrive in either St Gallenkirch or Gaschurn. Ski buses run back to Gortipohl from these ski holiday resorts.

The Silvretta Nova has reputed the biggest snow park in Austria whilst intermediates do best in the ski area. Gortipohl has no lift out of the resort, but once in the Silvretta Nova the lift system is good.
