HINTERTUX GLACIER APRÈS SKI

Après ski on and around the Hintertux Glacier is surprisingly good. The Sommerbergalm, the entry and exit point for the Hintertux Glacier is often the starting point of the après ski festivities, complete with an umbrella bar and converted cable car that has become the DJ booth. Expect traditional Austro-German noise and ski boot dancing. Après ski moves down into the valley once the lifts stop and to the hotel and umbrella bars that are located around the Hintertux Glacier lift base station. One thing to note however is that the après ski soon dies down into the evening as day trippers to the Hintertux Glacier leave and the predominantly German crowd return to their Hintertux hotels for evening dinner.

HINTERTUX GLACIER APRÈS SKI INFO

One ski holiday resort in the region that does not suffer a similar tail off in après ski through the evening is Mayrhofen. Buoyed by a real international mix of Brits, Irish, Scandinavian and Dutch guests, Mayrhofen après ski rocks till late. Action starts at the top of the Penkenbahn lift and continues at the base station of the same lift. There are numerous bars in the centre of Mayrhofen and clubs stay open till late. For those wanting to party till dawn, Mayrhofen is one of the very best in Austria.

Some excellent apres ski bars, but lacking a bit of a late night atmosphere with limited places open after midnight. Although if only there for a week or so should be more than entertained!
