A number of villages just down from the Glacier that everyone seems to stay in, including Hintertux, Lanersbach and Vorder Lanersbach - all within easy reach of the Hintertux Glacier and well serviced by frequent buses.

Some excellent apres ski bars, but lacking a bit of a late night atmosphere with limited places open after midnight. Although if only there for a week or so should be more than entertained!

The Hintertuxer Glacier is located at the very end of the Zillertal. So it takes a while untill you get there. Once you arrived at the parking lot, the journey is not over. It takes about 40 minutes from the bottom to the top. But once you arrived, you will get really cool glacier skiing and boarding. The terrain park is more for pros but most of the time really good shaped.
A special feature of the Hintertuxer Glacier is Apres Ski at the Hohenhaus Tenne, a really great Apres Ski bar/restaurant. It may happen that you meet popular stars of the Apres Ski and Schlager music there.

For beginners it is not great as the blue runs are pretty steep! and the reds can get very icey when there are lots of people. But probably one of the better glacier for more advanced skiers.

there is not really a resort feel here - just some hotels at the bottom y the lift station. Nearby villages have a prettier feel to them.

nearby mayrhofen is the best place to stay if you want apres ski - or else it is more hotel based around the lifts

Not ideal for beginners, the Hintertux Glacier is steep for glaciers and can be icy at times. Good for intermediates and some ok steep pistes for advanced skiers and snowboarders.

Slightly more pricey and tends to be a bit of a day ski area with a big car park. More soul in the resort than at the Stubai Glacier but still a pretty remote frontier feel to it.

Great early on but tends to die down as day visitors leave for the resorts down the valley.
