HOCHGURGL THE RESORT
The ski holiday resort of Hochgurgl is an impressive and upmarket, if slightly isolated village. The location of Hochgurgl at 2150m is the highest ski holiday resort in Austria and one of the highest in the Alps. The result is superb snow reliability, possibly the best in Austria. Hochgurgl is also entirely ski-in, ski-out which marks it out as one of the few in Austria. Unlike some of the abominations of ski-in, ski-out ski holiday resorts in France, Hochgurgl is attractive, with low rise buildings and mostly high end accommodation. Hochgurgl offers better access to the Wurmkogel ski area than Obergurgl as well as a direct link into the Festkogel ski area via the valley spanning Top Express Gurgl lift.

HOCHGURGL RESORT INFORMATION
Whilst Hochgurgl is a million miles from some of the appalling ski-in, ski-out ski holiday resorts of France, it is limited in scope in terms of facilities and amenities. The buildings are all low-rise and the standard of accommodation is superb generally, but Hochgurgl lacks the charm of the typical Austrian ski holiday resorts. It is perched high on an exposed mountainside and whilst it has a church, Hochgurgl is not the quaint and typical Austrian ski holiday resort of the valleys.
