HOCHZILLERTAL SKIING
The Hochzillertal-Hochfugen ski region is part of the Zillertal ski region that stretches as far as the Hintertux Glacier. The combined Hochzillertal-Hochfugen ski area amounts to some 155km of ski pistes that mainly cater for intermediate skiers, whilst the ski area has a decent top lift height of around 2400m. The Hochzillertal ski area features a couple of race pistes named after Kaltenbachs’ favourite son, Stephan Eberharter but those aside the only really tough skiing is found off-piste. The run into Hochfugen makes for an interesting addition to the Hochzillertal ski area whilst at the opposite end of the ski area, the famous Kristallhutte mountain restaurant exudes style and is a popular focal point.
