Igls, Austria ski holiday resort guide. Igls is a traditional ski holiday resort located above Innsbruck. There are a number of hotels in Igls and there are good connections between Igls and Innsbruck for further facilities and accommodation.

IGLS THE RESORT
Being an Olympic village then Igls has benefited greatly from that legacy. The problem is that Olympic Bob Sled runs do not represent evening entertainment for everyone. The village centre is attractive and whilst it is not traffic free there are a number of cafés and hotels with terraces that face onto the main square and traffic tends to be light through this sleepy village. There is a definite feeling of yesteryear about Igls, partly because of its development as an Olympic village and the subsequent preservation of this infrastructure and the authentic village. Igls is immaculate but not modern. A few new features have opened in the recent years including an impressive conference centre and a refurbished Bob sled track.

IGLS RESORT INFORMATION
Igls has a small feel to it although it is in fact a fairly spread-out community. Most visitors to Igls stay close to the charming centre, with the main ski lifts a couple of minutes up the road. The main beginners ski areas is located by the ski lift as is the Igls ski school. The Olympic bob sled run is found above the village via either a wooded 15 minute walk or by road. Events are spectacular and well worth a visit.
