IGLS SKI HOLIDAYS

Igls is the second closest resort to the centre of Innsbruck, is the site of the most famous chapter in Austrian Winter Olympic history and has is a charming if sleepy resort. Igls is located at the foot of the Patscherkofel and the ski area enjoys sweeping panoramic views including Innsbruck, the local glaciers and on into Italy. The skiing consists of interesting tree-lined Olympic pistes that wind down the mountain, whilst at the top of the conically shaped Patscherkofel, the runs are open and exposed with dramatic views and either a steep descent or a winding track down. The resort is charming and has the air of a village that has seen past glories and whilst not being exactly dated, Igls has an nostalgic and historic feel.

IGLS SKI HOLIDAY INFORMATION

The skiing in Igls is not extensive but it is pretty interesting and varied. There is some descent off-piste skiing through some tree sections on the south side of the Patscherkofel. Much of the skiing though is for the intermediate and family skiing is popular.
