ISCHGL SKIING

Ischgl offers first and foremost an outstanding ski area, serviced by a great lift system and ideally laid out for all abilities. Idalp is the location for the main beginners ski area, the ski lockers and the huge terrain park and pipe. Idalp is accessed from the central lift and offers the location for downloading for skiers and boarders who wish to leave their equipment in lockers on the mountain. The ski area at Ischgl forms the border with Switzerland and customs points are located along the ridge with the neighbouring Swiss ski holiday resort of Samnaun. Most of the skiing is intermediate but the beginners area is impressive and Ischgl has some excellent off-piste terrain and most is obvious and visible.

ISCHGL SKI INFORMATION

A long red ski route connects Ischgl with the Swiss ski area of Samnaun, whilst the ski area and lift systems are available on most ski passes. Ischgl also shares a ski pass with Galtur. Most of the skiing in Ischgl is suited to intermediate skiers but advanced skiers and boarders will want to explore the vast sections of off-piste. Pretty much the only downside to the ski area in Ischgl is the ski out, which is best suited to intermediate skiers and above. Early in the afternoon these ski runs can be fine but after 3pm they become manically crowded and are in places quite narrow. Idalp is a good option to download into Ischgl for skiers and boarders with little experience.

The runs down to the village represent a challenge for any beginner skier and can be so busy that you may be better off taking the gondola back down.
