KITZBUHEL SKI HOLIDAYS

Kitzbuhel is one of the most famous ski holiday resorts in the world and derives its notoriety from the annual Kitzbuhel race weekend that hosts the most feared downhill race in the world – the Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm. Kitzbuhel is part of the vast KItzbuheler Alpen ski region and has seen recent investment in lifts linking in to neighbouring villages. The atmospheric resort of Kitzbuhel takes some beating anywhere in the Alps. The walled-medeival town centre is dramatic and contains a superb selection of entertainments and shops.

THE GOOD, THE BAD

Good  We like:
Beautiful medieval austrian town, good apres ski, lots to do for non skiers and extensive piste km's! The ultimate all round resort!

Bad  We don`t like:
The low altitude means that the lower slopes can be patchy if there has been a lack of snow and compared to elsewhere in Austria, the prices are a little higher.

HAHNENKAMM APRES SKI RACE MAYHEM

Possibly the biggest party in the mountains - the apres race Hahnenkamm party is not always pretty but is often quite classic.

KITZBUHEL SKIING

The Hahnenkamm ski weekend each January is the reason that Kitzbuhel is known worldwide. The fearsome nature of the downhill course is very much at odds with the majority of the terrain within the Kitzbuhel ski area. This tends to favour the intermediate skier. The vast Kitzbuheler Alpen ski region is also available.

As a very nervous intermediate skier, I find there are more than enough challenging runs to keep me entertained. Lift system is modern and efficient and attended by very helpful Austrians.

My favourite ski resort! Its really picturesque with a great friendly atmosphere, nice restaurants and fabulous shops. Almost worth giving the slopes a miss for a day. You can buy Prada, Chloe, Louis Vuitton etc. from bags to evening dress! Don't forget the credit cards, you will need them!

Austrian hospitality reigns supreme! Nothing is too much trouble and they love to see you enjoying yourself. At least one night at The Londoner is a must! Lots of great bars for all tastes and pockets.

Some absolute beginners in our group did not receive the best instruction I've seen but this was in a last minute personal lesson rather than a class. Generally though, I was surprised to hear so many English accents amongst the instructors.
