KITZSTEINHORN GLACIER SKIING

The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier offers skiing located at over 3000m and for most of the winter the snow conditions can be superb. As with any glacier, high winds can blow off the latest snowfall but generally the snow is the best in the Zell am See – Kaprun ski region. The skiing is dominated by intermediate ski terrain; the slopes tend to be wide and fairly gentle, especially at the top of the ski area, whilst further down there are a few pistes that are steeper and more challenging. None of the ski terrain on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier is particularly challenging however. The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier has an extensive and graded terrain park running the central region of the area, with routes classified according to difficulty.

THE GOOD, THE BAD

Good  We like:
Great snow throughout the winter and summer skiing possible

Bad  We don`t like:
Nothing really challenging on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier and no run back to the base station

KITZSTEINHORN GLACIER SKI INFORMATION

The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier shares a ski pas with the 2 other ski areas in the region, those of the Kaprun Maiskogel and the Zell am See ski area. The Kaprun Maiskogel ski area is located directly on the edge of Kaprun and has a compact ski area that is ideally placed for those staying in Kaprun. The skiing broadly suits beginners and intermediates; better intermediates will soon exhaust the skiing in the Maiskogel ski area. The Zell am See ski region is bigger than the Maiskogel area, is higher and offers more challenging terrain. Views onto the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier and Lake Zeller are superb.
