LEOGANG THE RESORT

Leogang is located away from Saalbach - Hinterglemm close to the town of Saalfelden and out of the narrow valley that is occupied by Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Leogang is a small town that existed before the arrival of tourism and has a decent, village feel to it without it being too much like a resort. The Schanteilift is located close to the village centre and serves the local beginners area although the main lift accessing the Saalbach - Hinterglemm - Leogang ski region, the Asitz lift leaves further down the valley from Leogang, with a car or ski bus required from much of the Leogang accommodation. Leogang itself is typical of Austrian valley resorts, being low-rise, spread out and with a church at its centre.

LEOGANG RESORT INFORMATION

Leogang has ready access to the other main towns and ski areas in the region as well as immediate access into the Saalbach - Hinterglemm - Leogang ski region. Saalfelden is located just down the valley road and offers a good range of shops and services whilst Zell am See with its own ski area, lake and impressive resort are just slightly further past Saalfelden. Also close by are the ski holiday resorts of the Hochkonig ski region including Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach am Hochkönig.

Leogang is a working town as well as a ski holiday resort and is attractive if somewhat tarnished by the traffic that passes close by through the valley. Good and authentic atmosphere though.
