LEOGANG SKIING

Leogang is one of the three principal components of the Saalbach - Hinterglemm – Leogang ‘Ski Circus’ ski region. The Saalbach - Hinterglemm - Leogang ski region is one of the biggest linked ski areas in Austria and about the biggest in the region. The combined Saalbach - Hinterglemm - Leogang is an intermediates’ dream and the Leogang sector of the skiing is exclusively red and blue classified. A ski pass covers the entire Saalbach - Hinterglemm - Leogang ski area and it is possible to ski a full circuit of the region in one day, although this has to be tackled in an anti-clockwise direction as there is no lift from Vorderglemm back into the Saalbach sector.

LEOGANG SKI INFORMATION

Of the 3 sectors in the Saalbach - Hinterglemm - Leogang ski region, Leogang has the smallest and most marginal skiing. It is easily possible to ski into the Saalbach ski sector from Leogang but getting to and from Hinterglemm can be a lengthy process given the distances required to travel. For intermediates this adds to the joy of the area but for the best skiers and snowboarders wanting to access the most advanced terrain, this requires a lengthy trip over to Hinterglemm where much of this terrain can be found. The height of the Saalbach - Hinterglemm - Leogang ski with a top lift height of just over 2000m is not ideal although the ski area however gets good natural snow and has extensive snow making.

At the far end of the Saalbach - Hinterglemm - Leogang ski region, Leogang has beginner skiing in the resort and is ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
