MAYRHOFEN APRÈS SKI

One of the best around! Mayrhofen offers numerous après ski bars to entertain the skier and snowboarder during day light and through the night. Much of the apres ski action starts at the mountain huts on the Penken side of the valley and continues in the bars next to the Penkenbahn, the main lift connecting Mayrhofen and its major ski area. Ingeniously someone had for foresight to centre the apres ski action in Mayrhofen around the valley / base station of the same lift. So apres skiers and boarders at the top of the Penkenbahn drink until the lift crew threaten them with a night in the snow, they then take the lift down, descend a spiral ramp in the gondola station, which ejects them at the main hub of the apres ski in Mayrhofen – brilliant concept !

The prices were ok but the atmosphere was fantastic. Go from the bar at the top of the gondola to the ice bar, home get changed, quick bite to eat and off to scotland yard, aerna and finally snusell, if you can hack this you'll be awake till 5.30am... great apres ski!!
