MAYRHOFEN FAMILY SKI HOLIDAYS

There is a lot to recommend Mayrhofen as a family resort. There are many local public facilities to complement those offered by the numerous impressive hotels. The resort is pretty upmarket and the notorious apres ski is largely localised to a few areas. Much of the traffic by-passes the village on the way to the villages of Finkenberg and those around the Hintertux glacier. And best of all for a family ski holiday is the fact that Mayrhofen has a separate, relaxed and easy ski area on the Ahorn mountain across from the main ski area of the Penken. A new lift was installed for the 2007 season to tackle lift queues. The downsides of Mayrhofen for families include the need for ski buses and sometimes the distance between town amenities and accommodation .

Excellent range of facilities for families. The Mayrhofen - Ahorn ski area is ideal for families.

  We don`t like:
Ski bus often required. Queues at the 2 town lifts. Apres ski.

The Ahorn ski area is the ideal choice for families taking a ski holiday in Mayrhofen. It has a spacious new lift, it offers gentle ski slopes and has a relaxed atmosphere away from the popular Penken ski area. Ski runs come back down to Mayrhofen on the Ahorn side unlike those on the Penken side.
