MAYRHOFEN THE RESORT

For all its well deserved reputation for après ski action, Mayrhofen has a fairly up-market feel about it. There are impressive hotels and dining throughout Mayrhofen, whilst the village is located in a very dramatic valley that is truly dominated by the local peaks. Local traffic is not too heavy as much of it bypasses the resort. The main street is the focus for nightlife and is the location for the Penkenbahn lift that accesses the main ski area in Mayrhofen. The upmarket nature does not generally lead to inflated prices for food and drink whilst the more expensive hotels come with extensive facilities (again generally). And whilst the resort has a well earned reputation for apres ski action it tends to be localised and not too obtrusive. But hey, if it’s wanted, it’s there !

MAYRHOFEN RESORT INFORMATION

Mayrhofen is pretty big and whilst the main lift is located in the centre then most accommodation is naturally situated in more open parts of town. A pretty efficient ski bus service operates throughout the day. At night a walk is often necessary or a taxi from more outlying accommodation. A small train runs the length of the Zillertal Valley, stops in Mayrhofen and links well with the cities of Salzburg, Munich and Innsbruck, ideal for either arrival or excursions.

It is a nice village with plently of attractions including ice skating, shops, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. There is always a lively buzz to the place

Gorgeous little town. Everything is within easy walking distance. Bit pricier than some European places, but not excessive.
