MONTAFON SKI HOLIDAYS

Montafon is the ski region in the far west of Austria in the province of Vorarlberg made up of 11 resorts ski holiday resorts. St Anton in Montafon, Vandans, Bartholomaberg, Schruns, Tschagguns and Silbertal are located toward the head of the valley and access the Golm and Hoch Joch ski regions, Gargellen is the highest ski holiday resort and has a mid-sized ski area of its own, whilst St Gallenkirch, Gortipohl, Gaschurn and Partenen all have good access to the biggest and possibly best ski area in the entire Montafon region, that of Silvretta Nova. Generally Montafon has superb scenery, a good snow fall record, quiet nightlife after the après ski has died down and few guests beyond Austrians, Swiss and many Germans.

MONTAFON SKI HOLIDAY INFO

With so many villages and several ski areas generalisations are problematic, but on the whole the skiing is best suited to the intermediate. That said Montafon gets a good deal of snow and has numerous ski routes and off-piste. There is quite a hard-core element of local skiers and boarders, whilst ski touring is also popular.
