WILDSCHONAU SKI HOLIDAYS

The three principal resorts of Niederau, Oberau and Auffach make up the ski region of Wildschonau. The ski area of Wildschonau is characterised by gentle, sunny slopes in a pretty valley. The area has been hugely popular with British guests over many decades and whilst the ski terrain best suits the beginner and intermediate, the area still has a strong following from skiers who return year after year. The scenery in Wildschonau is attractive and well represents the Austrian alpine setting and since the road goes little further than Auffach the traffic through the villages tends to be light. Wildschonau is part of the vast Kitzbuheler Alpen ski region pass and offers a huge variety of resorts for those prepared to travel.

WILDSCHONAU SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The three villages of Niederau, Oberau and Auffach are all small and pretty charming in character. The ski areas above the village tend to be small and access to and from these small villages is pretty straightforward compared to the bigger resorts in the region. Families and beginners rule in the Wildschonau. The skiing in Wildschonau tends to favour the beginner, intermediate and family with the advanced skier doing less well. Statistically there appears to be a fair share of advanced terrain but much of this terrain little merits the classification. For families, beginners and intermediates looking for a limited area of cruising then Wildschonau is perfect.
