Great resort - excellent for a family of intermediate skiers. Plenty to keep everyone occupied for a week (if you include Hochgurgl - which is very easy to get to either via the telecabine or even quicker via the free bus that connects the two resorts in just a few minutes).

Charming Tyrollian village. Quite a small resort - but enough to keep families occupied. Mostly hotels so not sure about chalet / apartment scene.
Excellent little bar (Fassl Bar) in shape of big barrel at bottom of ski school meeting area - must qualify as one of the smallets pubs in Europe.

Everything quite pricy partly because of FX rate and partly beacuse it is right at the head of the valley.

Didn't use creche as our boys now skking faster than us! Resort is totrally geared up for families. Feels very safe and everywhere is easy to get to and work out.

See comment above about Fassl bar. Also try out CU Bar and cellar bar at Yosl Hotel. At the end of the day it is quite small for Apres and wont necessarily suit the livelier crowd. Great for a quick couple of drink with the family after skiing or slipping out for a cheeky couple before dinner. Didn't try any night clubs - too tired after playing pass the pigs in th e hotel bar! Most of the action I suspect stays in the respoective hotels of which there are quite a few.

Very friendly staff and trainers

Hotel Alpina is perfekt for English People. The Staff is friendly an the Wellness Area very big. One part can you use with clothes and one without clothes :-)

Pistes in good condition, although beginners may find it difficult on flat sections of which there are a fair few.

some parts nice and wide with a range of routs to take within routes, there are some long flats and slight up hills that are hard to get past unless you can get a good run up, any experianced snowboarder will not find it a problem. but if you dont make it you dont need skiiers flying past you as close as they can get. (their adults whats their problem?)

Wide open pistes - you can see for miles.

A pretty traditional high austrian village, but I think most of the facilities can be found in the hotels. There are a few shops and bars though.

Didn't seem like a lot was going on after the slopes were closed.

Impressive lift system accessing some high altitude skiing, which is great for intermediates. Less for advanced although the routes down from the Hohemut can be pretty testing in tough conditions. The height ensures the off-piste snow is often very good.

Slightly more expensive than other local resorts but upmarket and hotels have good facilities. Attractive buildings in dramatic location but can get bleak in bad weather.

More to do than Hochgurgl but less ski-in, ski-out accommodation.

Better than Hochgurgl but still quite restrained after the early evening après ski swill dies down.
