OBERTAUERN SKIING
In terms of piste skiing then for beginners and intermediates, Obertauern offers a good deal. It has a superb snow record with a resort altitude over 1700m. There is a respectable accumulated piste total of nearly 100km and the ski lifts leave Obertauern from a variety of locations. For the advanced skier or boarder there are some steep sections above the area of Schaidberg but in general most of the advanced skiing needs to be found with a local guide and is off-piste. As well as the lifts being convenient located for the accommodation in much of Obertauern, so the ski pistes also tend to traverse sections of the village and make for good return access to much of the accommodation from the ski areas.

OBERTAUERN SKI INFORMATION
Being mostly above the tree-line and exposed due to the altitude, the skiing in Obertauern can suffer badly in poor weather. The skiing is very much limited to the beginner and intermediate. Additionally advanced skiers will find the lack of vertical offered in Obertauern another drawback. Again, in this respect Obertauern is extremely similar to Kuhtai.
