Ok….the Krippenstein Freeride Arena is incredible for off-piste skiing, snowboarders have some traverses before they reach the off-piste treasure and the terrain park is very natural and unusual. For the best skiers and snowboarders then the Krippenstein Freeride Arena is an absolute must. Intermediates have a good run back to Obertraun but nothing else and beginners some great views. Intermediates and beginners should commute to Dachstein West which is ideal for them.

KRIPPENSTEIN FREERIDE ARENA SKIING

For those looking for a serious alpine challenge then head to the Krippenstein Freeride Arena. The ‘Krip’ ranks as one of the very best extreme ski and snowboard areas in the Alps and is populated by very serious, dedicated and loyal staff. The on-piste ski area is fantastically dramatic with views across superb alpine terrain but in truth the ski pistes are very limited, consisting mainly of one piste back to the valley lift station, albeit an extremely long one. But in terms of the off-piste then the Krippenstein Freeride Arena is an absolute Mecca of the Alps. Off-piste guides are essential, if you think otherwise then choose somewhere else – the Krip can easily find you out. The Dachstein West is easily reached from Obertraun and is ideal for intermediate skiers.
