PITZTAL GLACIER FAMILY SKI HOLIDAYS

The Pitztal Glacier is a mixed bag for families. The skiing is on the whole gentle and wide ski pistes with good snow cover are a bonus for families on ski holidays. The upgraded lift system on the Pitztal Glacier includes a new gondola whilst the mountain funicular is safe for kids and protected from the elements. The ski area at Rifflsee offers an alternative through-out the winter to the high altitude skiing at the Pitztal Glacier, with fairly gentle skiing that is less prone to the weather and with a gondola being located in the centre of the zone of St Leonhard that accesses the Pitztal Glacier. The lift to Rifflsee can be reached from much of the accommodation there on foot.

PITZTAL GLACIER FAMILY SKI INFO

It is a fairly long and winding road to the areas of St Leonhard that actually access the Pitztal Glacier. For those staying in the immediate vicinity of the base station then it is fine but some accommodation, even within St Leonhard can be a good distance from the ski lifts. The high altitude nature of the Pitztal Glacier can also be a negative for family ski holidays. The weather can be bitterly cold in the peak winter months and when cloud and snow rolls into the region the visibility in the Pitztal Glacier ski area can be very poor indeed.
