SCHLADMING SKI HOLIDAYS

Schladming offers interesting tree-lined intermediate skiing, an attractive old town centre as well as a local glacier. Schladming is a historic and highly attractive ski holiday resort. There are numerous bars and restaurants on offer in Schladming. The town is more than just a resort and has a biggish feel to it and like a resort like Kitzbuhel it has a working feel to it as well the tourism. There is an attractive pedestrianised centre in Schladming and the area has hosted numerous FIS race events as well as past world championships. What were in the past disparate elements to the skiing in the locality around Schladming have more recently been linked to form an area of impressive size. Glacier skiing is on hand in the area to ensure snow reliability.

SCHLADMING SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The resort of Schladming is historic and charming. There is an attractive pedestrianised centre and an authenticity to the town due to the fact that it is a working town as well as a regional powerhouse in terms of winter sports tourism. The resort altitude is fairly low but the snow record is good and the northerly facing slopes offer good reliability. Schladming used to boast the fastest average speed for a mens’ FIS downhill race course. The last section that leads down into the resort is steep and can be highly challenging in poor conditions. This demanding terrain is very much at odds with the rest of the ski area which is dominated by intermediate, tree-lined cruisers.
