SCHRUNS SKIING
The main ski area serving Schruns is the Hochjoch ski region, an interesting area consisting predominantly of 2 wide and high altitude bowls that offer mostly intermediate skiing, superb scenery and a good snow record. There are also some interesting trails that run along the edges of the bowls that are ideal for the less good skiers and boarders or else families. At quiet times the bowls have a real wilderness feel to them. A 500m tunnel that cuts through the mountainside and is illuminated for skiing makes for an interesting distraction and brings the skier back into the ski area located above the Kapell restaurant, the location of the top lift station and the dedicated kids learning area.

SCHRUNS SKI INFORMATION
The skiing in Hochjoch is certainly best for intermediate skiers and boarders and whilst there is a dedicated kids ski area, there is no real very easy beginners terrain located directly at the Kapell restaurant and lift station, instead it is located a short distance away in the direction of the Silbertal ski area. For advanced skiers and boarders there tends to more off-piste and ski route options in both the Gargellen and Silvretta Nova ski areas. Off-piste exists in Hochjoch but inside of the natural bowls the off-piste tends to be too gentle, whilst on the outside of these bowls there is avalanche danger and true backcountry terrain to encounter.
