SOLL THE RESORT

The ski holiday resort of Soll is located at the foot of the Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser ski area, in a central location and it is possible to ski to the underpass which is only metres from the town centre and church. Getting to the lifts in the morning is best done with the free ski buses that circle the village, since the main lift departs a little further across the nursery slopes, rather than the centre of Soll. This is the most common complaint about Soll as a ski resort, since the village and much of the accommodation is attractive and of good quality. The village has an attractive main street and a party atmosphere throughout the winter. There is a Christmas market along the main street in the weeks running up to Christmas. It is also possible to escape the apres ski noise.

SOLL RESORT INFORMATION

One of the draw-backs of the way Soll is set out is also one of the reasons it works. There is a main road running through the valley that takes quite a bit of traffic. As a result Soll has developed away from this toward the spectacular Wilder Kaiser mountain range. Additionally much of the apres ski action and noise takes place along the main street and since the village has developed away from these two features it retains a charming and peaceful atmosphere. The downside to this is that the main ski lifts is located on the other side of the road (and main street) to the bulk of the accommodation, this being the main gripe people have with Soll. However Soll is attractive, full of life and has a good ski bus service.

Obviously a very small resort, but one that has all that you need and require. If you were looking for souvenirs (which we weren't) you may have found that aspect limited.

Enough Restaurants and Bars in Soll, we never felt the need to venture further. There's some nice bars on the blue run down from Soll as well.

Food was all generally good, but we were a bit shocked at some excessive prices on extremely average wine with Dinners.
