Have just returned from a 5 day break in Soll Austria, not enough time to cover the 250+km of piste, but plenty of time to get the flavour. As a mixed group of Intermediate Boarders/Skiers we were very satisfied and there's plenty more to discover on our next trip there.

Obviously a very small resort, but one that has all that you need and require. If you were looking for souvenirs (which we weren't) you may have found that aspect limited.

Enough Restaurants and Bars in Soll, we never felt the need to venture further. There's some nice bars on the blue run down from Soll as well.

Food was all generally good, but we were a bit shocked at some excessive prices on extremely average wine with Dinners.

We were a group of young men, but i'd have no hesitation bringing the family here based on what i saw. The long gentle nursury slopes and the happy kids seemed testament to that.

The main bar on the Crossroad (which name escapes me) was a fun place to meet up for the apres ski sessions, with a good choice of Sports on tv or live music a lively backdrop to the Jagermeisters.

Some of the other bars also had live music later and although in our short stay we must have visited every eating/drinking venue there was always something going on somewhere.

Been coming here for years and the end of feb 09 was the best snow ever

Soll is fantastic for all group levels but perhaps more suited to intermediates. The ski welt area offers one of the largest ski areas in the world and with an excelent lift system connecting all areas i would firmly recommend it.

Resort is expensive enough but if you look in the right places you can find your deals. The resort is very lively at night for those who want that sort of holiday (which we did) but it is easy to stay in the local bars and have a quiet night if you so wish. Soll itself is a typical Austria town with beautiful buildings and cobble stoned streets.

Excellent apres ski, whiskey mulle is a pub/club and stays open till 2am and the party can be continued until 6am if you are up for it at a nearby underground establishment - i forget the name because you usually dont remember going there or comming home from it

Beginners have a ski area in the edge of the resort although they should download from mid-station in the main ski area to avoid crowded pistes. For intermediates the skiing in Soll is perfect.

Soll is a traditional and pretty ski holiday resort with a fair range of facilities.

Soll has an extensive kids learning area and the resort is set back from the main valley road. The only real downside is the potent après ski.

Amongst the very best in Austria, just behind the big guns of St Anton, Ischgl and Solden.
