STUBAI GLACIER SKIING
The skiing on the Stubai Glacier is high and snow sure and but for high winds, skiing is possible and often good in all but the height of the summer when afternoon skiing can be a pretty wet affair. The skiing best suits intermediate and beginner skiers and the ski pistes are wide and forgiving. Given the height of the ski pistes on the Stubai Glacier, the snow conditions are often very good. There are three main sectors, the midstation and above, the Gamsgarten and the Eisgrat. All three areas are served by gondola, with the rest of the lift system being modern and extensive. There are numerous mountain restaurants and the Gamsgarten has an excellent kids area with a dedicated ski area outside and activities , a creche and a restaurant indoors.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
For intermediates the Stubai Glacier is ideal with great snow and gentle pistes
We don`t like:
There is little to challenge the better skiers. Can also get cold in mid winter.

STUBAI GLACIER SKI INFORMATION
For intermediate and beginner skiers then the Stubai Glacier offers superb skiing. The runs tend to be long, gentle and wide and after fresh snow the runs can be supremely forgiving. One draw back to the skiing at the Stubai Glacier is the run back to the base station: in good conditions it can be a superb 13km route through real wilderness, in poor conditions it can be an absolute war zone. Skis and bodies can be strewn across the trail and in these conditions it is advisable to take the lift from the several stations or start out early and avoid the majority of the carnage.
