Great resort for the enthusiast! Great variety of pistes, and linked to Flauwinkel and Kleinarl. Perfect for families, whether it's boarding or ski-ing, there's something at every level, and for every age. Maybe not ideal for beginners, as the standard of ski-ing in the resort is very high, and the runs down to the valley mostly red or black (and brilliant!).

Just be aware that this resorts is unashamedly aimed at the skier/boarder. There is some off-piste activity, but not a lot. Go there if you want to ski/ board, but if you're inclined to finish early or look for other things to do, maybe not there ideal resort for you! Very much a place for the 'first lift up, and last lift down' brigade!

Great resort for family holidays. If you have boarders in the family, don't expect to see too much of them once they discover the snow park in Flachau ...

Again, while there is some apres-ski, the emphasis in Zauchensee is very much on the 'during-ski'!

Zauchensee is located in a narrow valley and flat beginner ski areas are somewhat limited. Intermediates have a great area to explore and can ski into the Ski Amade region.

Zauchensee is purpose built but despite this it is an attractive resort with ski-in, ski-out accommodation. Facilities outside of the accommodation are limited.

Most facilities are hotel based with little else offered in Zauchensee but the atmosphere is good and access to the kids ski area and the ski lifts in Zauchensee is good.

There are a number of umbrella bars and hotel terraces dotted around Zauchensee but the action tends to die down into the evening.
