ZAUCHENSEE SKIING
The skiing and snowboarding in Zauchensee is pretty extensive, links far into the Ski Amade ski region and as Zauchensee is one of the highest resorts in the area, the snow tends to be reliable. Ski-in, ski-out accommodation adds to the luxury and convenience. Generally speaking the beginners skiing is slightly better down in the valley at Altenmarkt, although there is a dedicated area for beginners in the centre of Zauchensee. Similarly Altenmarkt skiing is pretty much confined to beginner skiing whilst Zauchensee offers more terrain and much more variety. Intermediates do best in Zauchensee with some long, tree-lined runs running back into Zauchensee. There is an FIS ski piste for speed junkies in Zauchensee.

ZAUCHENSEE SKI INFORMATION
The main Zauchensee ski area has developed in a bowl around the resort with runs heading back into Zauchensee. At the ridge of the biggest area however, runs head down toward the neighbouring valley and the small village of Flachuawinkel, a small satellite village from the much bigger ski holiday resort of Flachau. From here a larger ski area opens up and it is possible to ski on into Wagrain, Alpendorf and St Johann in this direction; all resorts are covered by the Ski Amade regional ski pass with just a short bus connection. On the route back it is also possible to ski into Flachau.
