TREMBLANT SKI HOLIDAYS

Tremblant is the main Canadian ski resort in the east. Transformed under the ownership of Intrawest (the owners of Whistler-Blackcomb) Tremblant has seen developments in both the ski holiday resort and the ski area. Lacking the damp Pacific air of British Columbia or Alberta, Tremblant has less in the way of powder skiing but does experience more sun and cold temperatures. Tremblant the ski holiday resort is mainly modern but has been built in attractive colours and to a French - Canadian theme with narrow streets. The Tremblant ski area is tree-lined with deciduous trees giving a far different look and feel to western Canada. Snow making is extensive in Tremblant given the frigid eastern climate.

THE GOOD, THE BAD

Good  We like:
Impressive European village and one of the bigger ski destinations in the East

Bad  We don`t like:
Can be cold and much of the snow is artificially generated

TREMBLANT SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The skiing in Tremblant boasts a good number of black ski pistes but in practice these are not so testing. All skiing takes place below the tree-line. Beginners and intermediates are best catered for in Tremblant, with a fair variety of pistes cutting through the trees. Off-piste and powder skiing is far less abundant in Tremblant than the Canadian ski holiday resorts of British Columbia and Alberta. Snowboarding in Tremblant has a good local following with impressive terrain parks although the lack of powder snow compared to the western Canadian resorts means that snowboarding takes place mainly on-piste or in the terrain parks.

Remarkably cold during our visit. Amazing efforts to maintain the snow conditions paid dividends but freshly groomed runs were all that was posible as off piste is none existant.

Nice -ish resort though the north amercan slant on Tyrolean culture can be a little bit strange. If taken for what it is you may find it to be a small Whistler with less charm and obviously limited skiing possibilties but still fun . The Canadans ar a welcoing bunch and the attention to detail in the resort was up to the usual nrth American standard.

The resort scored very highly for our all age group . We felt our younger members were all very safe and had a wide array of activities on and off the slopes to keep them busy.
