Some people sneered at the attempt to recreate a european alpine village, I think the village is the perfect resort with great atmosphere and a very safe and relatively civilized apres ski experience.

WHISTLER THE RESORT

The resort of Whistler is the principal resort that serves the Whistler-Blackcomb ski area. There is accommodation and facilities at both Whistler Creekside and Blackcomb, but the main hub is Whistler. The resort has grown massively over the last 2 decades and now offers possibly the biggest and most well equipped resort in North America. The development is generally low rise and wooden, with the resort spreading along the valley. The centre is well laid out and combines the near-totally purpose built centre of resort with a charming and Canadian feeling resort. Convenience is a huge aspect of Whistler, with heated steps and après ski bars positioned at the base of the lifts – all possible as the resort municipality has a single owner – Intrawest.

WHISTLER RESORT INFORMATION

Whistler lacks the random charm of a Swiss or Austrian resort, yet it has developed into a hugely successful and highly convenient resort that serves the vast Whistler-Blackcomb ski area. Forget any quirky locations for ski hire or massages, everything has been meticulously planned in Whistler. Fortunately the architecture was deemed paramount and the resort has a real Canadian frontier feel in areas, although the village size makes it feel far less wilderness. Lifts and accommodation and well linked in general and there is some truly impressive accommodation for occupation in Whistler. Locals bemoan the rising prices as they move on, but the development continues – convenience and facilities are not delivered better anywhere.

whistler had it all for me, great facilities and accommodation with lots of variation on offer in the town and the canadian dollar makes living here less expensive than you may think.
