WHISTLER SKIING

The skiing is the main reason that people go to Whistler-Blackcomb in their masses. The ski area at Whistler-Blackcomb boasts the biggest ski area in North America, has an annual snow fall accumulation that is rarely beaten and has one of the most extensive and advanced ski lift infrastructures of any resort. All levels of skier and snowboarder will find extensive terrain in Whistler-Blackcomb. Lifts leave the centre of the village and much of the accommodation has great access to the slopes. Poor visibility is one of the downsides to the skiing in Whistler-Blackcomb, although a good deal of the skiing takes place beneath the tree-line. In the winter months, endless weather systems pour in off the Pacific, doing little for sun tans but lots for the off-piste.

WHISTLER SKI INFORMATION

Whistler-Blackcomb is famous for its off-piste skiing. The Whistler bowl accessed from the Peak Chair is famous for its steep descents and in times of new snow the area is hard to beat. Better still, those waiting to access the Peak Chair are often treated to some extreme action as skiers and boarders leap from the nearby frozen waterfalls, cliff drops that can often get them in magazines or on the back of the first aid skidoo. Tree skiing is another great aspect of the skiing in Whistler-Blackcomb. When the Pacific Ocean sends in wave after wave of snow systems the visibility can suffer, most skiers and boarders then head into the trees of Whistler-Blackcomb. Local knowledge from a guide is a must.

The best spring skiing and snowboarding i've ever had! the amount of runs on offer over the 2 mountains is incredible, but the off piste is definitely the highlight along with the double black bowls which allow you to ride some amazing lines down very steep slopes in very deep snow. This is where i'll be doing my season!
