CHAMONIX FAMILY SKI HOLIDAYS
The resort town of Chamonix offers a good deal of facilities for the family but in general Chamonix is a poor choice for the base of a family ski holiday. Chamonix has impressive hotels, whilst the town has good leisure facilities as well as an atmospheric town centre. And whilst apres ski in Chamonix is lively, the tone tends to be G & T rather than happy hours and ski boots. There are notable exceptions in terms of nightlife but the atmosphere in general is conducive to high quality / class holidays and facilities are numerous. Normally this is a decent basis for a family ski holiday. However the traffic can be extremely heavy in and on the road past Chamonix. The weather in such a dramatic valley can be fickle to say the least and skiing takes place in all areas of the Chamonix valley above the tree-line.

CHAMONIX FAMILY SKI INFORMATION
As well as poor visibility the Chamonix valley offers numerous ski holiday resorts that are distant and poorly connected. Ski buses are a pre-requisite and can be long. Alternatives to staying in the town of Chamonix for a family ski holiday include staying in one of the Chamonix valley resorts of Les Houches, Les Praz, Argentiere, Le tour or Valloercine. The resorts lack the traffic of Chamonix, have good access to their own ski areas, and but for the fact that they share the same poor visibility in bad weather, offer a good alternative to a ski holiday based in the town of Chamonix.
