CHAMONIX SKIING
One of the most famous runs in the world, the Valley Blanche is what attracts many people to Chamonix. The drama of the arrival at the Aguille du Midi, along with the dramatic traverse on foot belie the fact that the route is actually manageable to most intermediate and above skiers and for snowboarders is often too flat in sections. For a taste of dramatic terrain with a wilderness feel however, the Valley Blanche is rightly listed as one of the top runs globally. Ski touring and off-piste skiing in Chamonix offer far more challenging terrain and some of the best advanced ski and boarding in the region. Guides are both essential and ubiquitous and the fickle weather in the Chamonix can mean some lengthy waits for conditions to allow guided tours in to the off-piste areas.

CHAMONIX SKI INFORMATION
But for the challenging traverse into the run, the Valley Blanche offers easy terrain and this is true of most of the piste skiing in the Chamonix Valleys ski areas. Skiing on the opposite side of the valley to the Mont Blanc and the Aguille du Midi makes up the main part of the Chamonix ski area. This area stretches as far as Les Praz and mainly consists of skiing above the tree-line that is best suited to intermediates. The poor weather that regularly affects this valley often creates bad visibility and the entire Chamonix valley ski area offers little in the way of skiing below the tree-line to overcome this.
