CHAMONIX SKI HOLIDAYS

Chamonix is revered around the world as one of the great alpine and mountain sports destinations. Chamonix sits in a valley below the highest peak in Western Europe, Mont Blanc and has a long history and pedigree as a mountaineering and winter sports base. A lengthy valley of settlements actually make up the ski holiday destination of Chamonix, but it is the village of Chamonix that is the focal point for mountain activity and access to Mont Blanc. Whilst Chamonix has a reputation for extreme terrain, the ski area is in fact dominated by intermediate skiing. The numerous ski areas in the Chamonix valley are disparate and poorly connected. That said there are fewer more dramatic and atmospheric valleys in the Alps.

CHAMONIX SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The resort of Chamonix grew to become one of the great centres of alpinism in the world. Skiing was always a secondary pursuit in Chamonix but in recent years, Chamonix has grown greatly and become one of the leading destinations for skiing and snowboarding. Chamonix is very different to even a few years ago and in many ways the resort is choosing style over substance, certainly if the mix of shops is anything to go by.

Not a lot of off piste skiing since we went early in January. Valee Blanche was closed due to lack of enough snow.
