CHATEL THE RESORT

Chatel is a big resort in terms of its area but much of this expanse is taken up with low rise and well spaced buildings that extend along the valley and above and below the main road through the valley. The resort is attractive without being beautiful and whilst the space within the village is a welcome relief from the densely packed accommodation in many other French resorts, it means that there is a big distance between ends of the resort village. The main street in Chatel contains the majority of the restaurants and entertainment but can become clogged with traffic during busy periods.

CHATEL RESORT INFORMATION

The main gripe visitors have with Chatel is the requirement for ski buses or private transport from much of the accommodation to the lifts out of the village. The lifts out of Chatel are far from convenient, whilst the second ski area in Chatel is located on the main road and is out of the village.

It is a pretty village - authentic french! The only downside is that there is quite a lot of traffic goes through it.

Liked the town very much. Plenty of shops to look at and we stayed in a lovely hotel with great views and we used a lovely restaurant for our Fondue evening. was a great shop where a lady sold her own home made fleeces which were cheap and excellent quality. The first microfleece I had seen and is still going strong!! Locals very friendly and patient with our kids.
