Some good beginners trails that wind round and are very pretty and not steep. For intermediates, a few good challenges as well as wider cruisy pistes

It is a pretty village - authentic french! The only downside is that there is quite a lot of traffic goes through it.

Seemed great for all abilities. I went with a school group and thought it was fantastic.

Liked the town very much. Plenty of shops to look at and we stayed in a lovely hotel with great views and we used a lovely restaurant for our Fondue evening. was a great shop where a lady sold her own home made fleeces which were cheap and excellent quality. The first microfleece I had seen and is still going strong!! Locals very friendly and patient with our kids.

Twin ski areas that favour the beginner or intermediate and link into the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil ski region. Attractive and extensive skiing but frustratingly the ski areas at Chatel are not lift linked.

Low rise and fairly attractive, but spread out and with heavy through traffic.

OK atmosphere and good skiing but the traffic is not ideal and some accommodation is a good way from the skiing.

The main street in Chatel has an OK choice of bars.
